FORT MYERS, Fla.  (Dec. 21, 2013) – The North Central College wrestling squad won its first dual on Saturday over Central College, but dropped matches against NCAA Division II institution Wheeling Jesuit University and the 27th-ranked Alma College at the Florida Gulf Coast Duals.

North Central (2-2) made quick work of Central in the opener and won seven consecutive matches against the Dutch to cruise to a 29-13 win.  At 165 pounds, Alex Vosburgh pinned Keegan Overbay in just 1:54, and Eric Kirkman followed it up with a 16-1 technical fall victory over Sam Apland at 174 pounds.  Vincent Pizzo picked up his first pin at 184 pounds with a 4:01 victory over Alex Dean.

Against Wheeling Jesuit, North Central won five of the first six matches but couldn't come away with the victory, and dropped the match 25-18.  Josh Tardy's pin of Dominic Nania in 4:17 highlighted the match for North Central.  Nick Santos, Layten Binion, Nathan Segal, and Alex Vosburgh also picked up decisions.

In the third and final match of the day, Alma College, ranked 27th in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association poll, defeated the Cardinals 33-10.  Binion completed a perfect 3-0 day with an 11-3 major decision over Dan Martinez.  Segal and Tardy also ended their day at 3-0 after they won by decision against the Scots.

North Central takes the mat again on Jan. 4, when they head to Knox College for the Chuck Porter Duals.
