ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Feb. 9, 2013) –
The North Central College women's basketball team outscored Augustana College by a 14-point margin in the second half Saturday night en-route to a 20-point victory, completing the season sweep of the Vikings in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play.
 
Trailing most of the opening half, the Cardinals took its first lead with 2:14 remaining in the opening period after a Kimberly Wilson three-pointer unknotted a 30-30 tie.
 
The Cardinal defense held a 19-2 turnover advantage at the intermission, but led by just six going into the second half.
 
The North Central offense came out firing, taking its first double-digit lead just over two minutes into the second half as AnnMarie Bachmann sunk one from beyond the arch, giving the Cardinals a 46-34 advantage.
 
The Cardinals (12-11, 5-7 CCIW) continued to pour on the offense leading by double figures the rest of the way, taking its largest lead of the contest after Maryssa Cladis hit one of North Central's 17 three-pointers on the evening, increasing the Cardinal advantage 81-54.
 
Kelsey Cooling and Maryssa Cladis led the Cardinal scoring attack with 14 points apiece, each nailing four three-point field goals.  Sophie Newson added 12 points while snagging a team high six rebounds.
 
The Vikings (7-16, 2-10 CCIW) were led by Molly Etheridge's 14 point, 10 rebound double-double while Gianna Pecora chipped in 13 points.
 
North Central returns to Gregory Arena on Saturday, Feb. 16, playing host to North Park University on senior night.  Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m.
