The North Central College women's tennis team improved to 4-1 on the season, taking down Purdue University Calumet, Wednesday afternoon at the NCC Tennis Courts.

The Cardinals (4-1) jumped out to an early advantage in singles play as Kelsey Forkin made quick work of Ashley Pabey, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 2 position while Reynolds Cross cruised past Sarah Storm in straight sets 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4.  Rebecca Ross followed with a 6-4, 6-1, victory at No. 5 downing the Peregrines (0-1) Lauren Innes, and Kayla Garcia finished up with a 6-0, 6-1, win over Felicia Deardorff at No. 6.

In doubles play, the Cardinal combination of Forkin and Jenny Velasquez came from behind to defeat Pabey and Haworth, 8-6, in the No. 1 spot, while the duo of Clare O'Connor and Garcia put away Purdue-Calumet's Innes and Storm, 8-3, at No. 3

North Central travels to Lake Forrest College, Saturday, Sept. 14 for a non-conference doubleheader, taking on the Forresters at 8:30 am before concluding the afternoon with Ripon College 12 pm.
