Men's Soccer Continues Winning Streak, Shuts Out Benedictine

LISLE, Ill. (Sept. 12, 2013) –
The North Central College men's soccer team won its fourth straight game Thursday night, making the short trip down the road to Benedictine University, cruising to a 3-0 victory.
 
The Cardinals (4-1) struck early as Jake Johnson connected on his first goal of the season in the seventh minute, putting home a header off a pass from Ryan Johnson to give North Central a 1-0 lead.
 
North Central took a 1-0 lead into the intermission, outshooting the Eagles (1-3) by a nine to three margin in the opening half.
 
In the 66th minute, Brett Hruby increased the Cardinal advantage to 2-0, sneaking one past Eagle goalkeeper Derek Catlett, his first collegiate goal.
 
Ricardo Serrano capped off the scoring with an insurance goal in the 81st minute, sending home a one-touch laser off a pass from Chandler Olah.
 
Cardinal goalkeeper Kyle DeRaedt earns his first shutout of the season, stopping two shots on the evening.
 
North Central returns home Sunday, Sept. 15 playing host to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.  Kickoff at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium is scheduled for 1 pm.
