WHEATON, Ill. (Sept. 26, 2013) – On the first day of the Wheaton College Thunder Invitational, the North Central College volleyball team defeated Trinity International University in the opener, before falling to the College of Mount St. Joseph in the team's second match.
The Cardinals (7-11) blasted Trinity International 25-19 in the opening set and followed it up with a marathon 31-29 triumph in the second. North Central closed out the Trojans with a 25-20 victory in the third set.
Kedryn Orrison,
Danielle Williams and
Amanda Walker all registered 11 kills.
Laura Kluk fed the Cardinals attackers with 42 assists and
Jessie Fiala had 20 digs to lead the defense.
Sarah Eggert also chipped in two service aces.
After dropping the first set to Mount St. Joseph, North Central rallied to take the second 25-23, but dropped the final two sets, losing 3-1.
Williams added 11 more kills against the Lions, to go along with her 11 digs.
Katie Connolly also reached 11 digs, while Fiala led the squad with 20. Fiala also had three service aces and Kluk added 29 more assists.
Amy Hermle and Orrison also had three block assists a piece.
North Central gets back on the court again tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. against the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and completes the doubleheader against the University of Wisconsin-Stout at 12:30 p.m.
