(Oct. 7, 2014) – The North Central College women's volleyball team dropped the final three sets after jumping out to a 25-21 first set victory, ultimately falling to College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) foe Augustana College, 3-1 on Tuesday inside the Carver Center.
The Cardinals (14-4, 0-2 CCIW) broke open the first set midway through as the North Central offense powered past the Vikings (16-5, 2-1 CCIW) to claim the opening set 25-21 to take an early 1-0 lead.
The North Central offense would struggle the rest of the night as Augustana rebounded with a pair of 25-18 wins in the next two sets before capping off the comeback with a decisive 25-13 win in the fourth set, clinching the match 3-1.
Julie Laugel paced the Cardinal attack with 12 kills while
Laura Kluk finished with a game-high 29 assists. Defensively,
Jill Galovic led North Central with 31 digs.
North Central hosts the Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament, Oct. 10-11 as the Cardinals open play on Friday against St. Mary's University (Minn.) at 6 pm.
