Nov. 17, 2014 - North Central College junior linebacker Al Willett been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Special Teams Football Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 15.
Willett was selected as the conference's top-performing special teams player for his contributions to the Cardinals' 38-31 victory at Elmhurst College on Saturday. He played a major role in North Central's kickoff coverage, as the Bluejays were limited to just 10.6 yards per kickoff return. Willett made tackles on three of Elmhurst's seven kickoff returns, which totaled just 17 yards.
North Central received a total of eight CCIW Player of the Week awards in 2014. Wide receiver Peter Sorenson and running back Ryan Kent have been so honored on offense, while linebacker Michael Monterrubio was last week's winner on defense and kicker/punter Dom Zavaglia has been the conference's Special Teams Player of the Week twice.
The Cardinals conclude the 2014 season with an overall record of 8-2 and a 6-1 mark in CCIW play.
