Nov. 20, 2014 – The North Central College wrestling team faced a tough opponent in #27 Augustana College on Thursday night, falling to the Vikings 31-6.

The Cardinals (1-1) were able to notch a pair of wins with sophomore Layten Binion at 141 pounds and senior Dylan Mahler at 285 pounds. Binion, the 2014 CCIW Champion at 133 pounds, squared off against freshman Colin Tomkins and edged out a hard fought 3-1 decision. Mahler would defeat senior Jack Seaman with a 2-0 decision, handing the Viking his first loss of the season.

The Vikings (2-1) were victorious at the eight remaining weight classes in the contest. Sophomore Dominic Boggia fell to junior, and 2014 CCIW Champion, Jimmy Panozzo in a 6-1 decision at 125 pounds. The remainder of the evening's matches ended with similarly disappointing results for the Cardinals.

Seniors Nathan Segal and Blake Olson both lost close decisions at 149 and 157 pounds, respectively, with both matches coming down to the final seconds. Segal dropped a 3-1 decision to Viking sophomore Brian Egan and Olson fell 7-6 to senior Hector Ruiz.

The Cardinals travel to Mequon, Wis. on Saturday for the Concordia University Wisconsin Open. Action begins at 9:00am and live results can be found online at the Concordia University wrestling website here. Live video of the contest can also be found here
