Feb. 6, 2014 – The North Central College women's basketball was outdone at the hands of Millikin University, 101-82 Thursday night in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) matchup inside Gregory Arena.
The Big Blue (9-11, 3-6 CCIW) took an 8-7 lead at the 16:40 mark and would not surrender the lead the remainder of the contest, shooting over 60 percent from the field on the evening.
Millikin took a four-point lead into halftime, despite turning the ball over 24 times in the opening half while North Central held close, shooting 52 percent from the field including 7 of 16 from three-point range.
In the second half, Millikin slowly pulled away and increased its lead by double-digits with 8:42 remaining in the contest.
The Cardinals (10-11, 3-7 CCIW) forced 38 turnovers on the evening but ended up shooting just 38 percent from the field, including a 28 percent clip in the second half.
The North Central offense was paced by 12 points each from
Kelsey Cooling and
Maryssa Cladis,
Marion Boeck chipped in 11 and
Lauren Hernandez added 10 off the bench.
The Big Blue were led by Brittany Czaplicki's 25 points and eight rebounds, while Kelsey Going added 21 points on 10 of 11 shooting from the field.
