Sep. 23, 2014 - The North Central College men's soccer team won their fifth game of the season Tuesday night 3-2 against Lake Forest College.

The Cardinals (5-2-1) got out to an early lead against the Foresters (2-6) lead with a goal in the 2nd minute from forward Lucas Habeeb (3) off an assist from forward Matt Koth (3).

The Cardinals scored quickly again in the 24th minute from leading goal scorer Matt Koth (6) with the pass coming from Joey Faleni (1). This put the team up 2-0 against the Foresters and things seemed to be good from there. However, the Cardinals began to tone down their aggressiveness and the Foresters scored a late first period goal in the 40th minute from Seton Trostle (1) to make the score 2-1.

The second period started out tough for both sides as the Foresters put some pressure on the Cardinals. Both sides remained scoreless until the 74th minute when Forester Hugh Watanabe (2) scored a goal tying the game at 2-2.

This seemed to spark the Cardinals and Matt Koth scored the last goal of the game in the 87th minute with some great passing from Jake Johnson (2). The Cardinals took the lead against the Foresters with a 3-2 score and finished out the game with a win.
