(Sept. 6, 2014) – The North Central College women's volleyball team finished 4-0 at the North Park University Clash over the weekend as the Cardinals came back to defeat Aurora University, 3-2 in the opening match Saturday morning before downing Knox College, 3-0 in the afternoon to remain undefeated this season.
In the opener against Aurora, the Cardinals (8-0) cruised to a 25-14 victory in the first set, but the Spartans (3-4) rallied to take the next two sets, 19-25 and 23-25.
North Central claimed the fourth set by a 25-18 margin and carried the momentum into the final set with a 15-9 victory to win the match. The Cardinals spread the ball around on offense as
Kedryn Orrison led the way with 10 kills, while
Laura Kluk and
Julie Laugel finished with nine and eight kills, respectively. Defensively,
Jill Galovic paced the Cardinals with 26 digs and
Amy Hermle added a solo block and four assists.
In the nightcap 3-0 victory over Knox, the Cardinals cruised to a 25-12, 25-18, 25-22 win, improving to 8-0 this season.
Bridget White led the Cardinals attack against Knox with 10 kills, while Laugel finished with six and
Claire Vrabec added five.
Katie Connolly led the way with 33 assists over the Prairie Fire (1-7). Once again, Galovic paced the defense with 11 digs and
Brittany Tickner added three blocks.
North Central plays host to Loras College in the opening home match of the season, Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 7 pm inside Gregory Arena.
