CCIW Press Release
Oct. 20, 2015 - North Central College senior Ken Hoffman has been recognized as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for Oct. 12-18, making him the second Cardinal to be so honored season. The CCIW announced its Athlete of the Week selections on Tuesday.
Hoffman was North Central's top finisher at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh AAE Invitational on Saturday, placing sixth in a field of more than 400 competitors and completing the 8,000-meter (five-mile) course in 24 minutes, 43.5 seconds. He led the third-ranked Cardinals to a second-place finish in the 45-team event, trailing only the top-ranked University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
North Central has claimed three of the seven Athlete of the Week awards the CCIW has bestowed this season. Junior Zach Plank received the distinction twice following individual victories at the Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational and Notre Dame Invitational.
North Central is idle until Saturday, Oct. 31, when it travels to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside to compete in the CCIW Championships. The Cardinals will be seeking their 42nd consecutive team title at the meet.
