Box ScoreOct 24., 2014 -The North Central College men's soccer team hot-streak in conference play was temporarily halted by Wheaton in a 2-0 loss on Saturday night, at Joe Bean Stadium.
Senior forward Marshall Hollingsworth proved to be the difference for the Thunder, as he scored two goals for the match. His first goal came in the 55
th minute, and was from 20 yards out, while his second came in the 68
th minute. It was his 15
th goal for the season, as he has been a major problem for all Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin teams.
That is not to say the Cardinals were not without their opportunities. Senior midfielder
Evan Landmark missed just high in the 16
th minute, a close call for the Cardinals that could have put them in front early. Senior midfielder
Nick Tiedt also came close in the 20
th minute, as the start to the game was a strong one for the Cardinals. The Cardinals also made a rally late, as junior
Steven Walcott had a shot blocked in the 84
th minute.
While tonight's result did not go the Cardinals way, Wheaton are a quality team and the conference tournament is very much a possibility.
The Cardinals look to bounce back and fight for a place in the conference tournament at Milikin at 7 P.M on Wednesday, October 28.. Live in game statistics and video can be accessed by clicking
