Box ScoreOct 28., 2014 – A dominant offensive display saw the North Central College men's soccer team defeat College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) foe Millikin 1-0 on Wednesday night, at Frank M. Lindsay Field.
The Cardinals were rewarded for their efforts when junior midfielder
Chandler Olah scored on a penalty kick in the 73
th minute, which also brought his total to 4 goals for the season.
After dominating the game and outshooting the big Blue 17-10, which included 7 shots on goal to 1, Chandler's goal was a just reward for a team that had ran hard all game.
The Cardinals opened the match creating scoring opportunities for themselves, with senior midfielder
Matt Koth missing just wide in the 1
st minute, followed by sophomore defender
Karl Bappert who had a shot sail just high in the 5
th minute.
Olah was unlucky not to open his scoring account in the 40
th minute, when he missed a shot wide, and then again in the 47
th minute when he shot and had the same result.
Junior Goalkeeper Justin DeBoer also continued his strong play, recording a clean sheet.
The Cardinals are now in a position where making the CCIW tournament is very realistic, as they have played well throughout conference and have only one game remaining. Playing such a difficult non-conference schedule proved to be a masterstroke, as the team was tested against the best prior to beginning conference play.
The Cardinals look to consolidate their place in the conference tournament at home against Illinois Wesleyan at 5:30 P.M on Wednesday, October 31. Live in game statistics and video can be accessed by clicking
