Oct. 31, 2015 – The North Central College women's soccer team lost their final game of the season, falling to an extremely tough Illinois Wesleyan team, 4-1, Saturday afternoon at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

Less than desirable weather with a consistent downpour already put a damper on the senior-day celebrations as North Central hosted the nationally ranked and CCIW champion Titans. With a potential bid to the conference tournament combined with some favorable outside outcomes, the Cardinals looked to be back participating in postseason play.

The Titans offense started off strong as Skyler Tomko scored just 1:24 into the game and Tess Bottorff added to the lead in the 22nd minute. The Cardinals (7-9-1) were outshot in the first period 8-2 and would go into halftime down 2-0.

North Central finally got some momentum as a penalty kick by Emily Gaither flew past the Titans keeper and brought the score to within one goal. Wesleyan wasted no time however as Bottorff scored her second goal of the game just a minute later. The Titans (17-1) tacked on another goal in the 87th minute to put it out of reach and the Cardinals went on to lose 4-1. North Central was outshot 16-5 in the contest.

North Central ended the season 7-9-1 and 2-4-1 in conference. Despite not making the tournament, the Cardinals showed improvement from the previous season and have nothing to hang their heads about.

North Central honored six seniors this year and will look to become a contender next season.
