th-ranked Carthage College, 3-0 on Tuesday inside Tarble Arena.
The first set was all Carthage (16-3, 1-1 CCIW), as the Lady Reds jumped out to an early 12-5 lead behind a dominant attack and would go on to win the set 25-17. Carthage finished the opening set with a .562 attack percentage, totaling 20 kills to only two errors.
The Cardinals (14-8, 1-1 CCIW) held tough in set number two and held set point after a
Cara Howell kill put North Central ahead 25-24. The Lady Reds were not to be denied however, as the Cardinals could not close out the set, giving up the final three points to drop the set 27-25.
Carthage carried that momentum into the third set, as the turning point came with the score knotted 9-9. The Lady Reds rallied to score nine of the next 11 points to quickly take a commanding 18-11 lead and would go on the win the third set 25-15.
Anna Billman led the Cardinal attack with nine kills, while Howell and
Amanda Walker finished with eight and six, respectively.
Ashley Powers turned in 31 assists on the evening, while
Jill Galovic finished with eight digs.
North Central is back in action this weekend, hosting the 14
th annual Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament, Oct. 9-10. North Central squares off against Robert Morris University on Friday at 2 p.m., followed by Saint Mary's University (Minnesota) at 6 p.m. The complete tournament schedule and links to live in-game statistics are available
