Oct. 6, 2015 - North Central College senior Megan Costanzo has been recognized as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time in three weeks, receiving the distinction for the week of Sep. 28-Oct. 4. The CCIW made its announcement Tuesday.

She was selected on the strength of her performance Friday at the Notre Dame Invitational. Costanzo placed 12th out of 150 finishers in the Gold Division, clocking a time of 17 minutes, 55.9 seconds on the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) course. She led North Central to a 10th-place finish in a rugged 19-team field. She also received the award on Sep. 22 after a second-place showing in the Wheaton College Gil Dodds Invitational.

Costanzo was an All-CCIW and All-Region performer last season and is coming off an outdoor track & field season which saw her earn All-America honors in the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.

The Cardinals will compete in the Benedictine University Eagle Invitational at St. James Farm in Warrenville on Friday.
