CCIW Press Release
Nov. 16, 2015 - North Central College football player Austin Breunig has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 14.
Breunig received the distinction for the second time in six weeks after helping lead the 15th-ranked Cardinals to a 56-21 victory over Elmhurst College in the season finale on Saturday. Breunig ran for 192 yards on 23 carries and tied a North Central single-game record with four rushing touchdowns, including a career-long 80-yard scoring run in the second period.
The four TDs brought Breunig's season total to single-season school record 18 rushing touchdowns for the year, and he also became the first Cardinal to score at least one touchdown in every game of a single season.
North Central finishes the year with a total of five CCIW Player of the Week awards. Breunig was also honored following the Cardinals' Oct. 10 win over North Park University, while Tyler Oakley, Al Willett and Dom Zavaglia each earned Special Teams Player of the Week Awards during the season.
North Central finished the 2015 season with an overall record of 7-3 and went 6-1 in CCIW play. This year's All-CCIW Teams will be announced on Wednesday.
