Box Score Naperville, Ill. (Sep. 12, 2015) –The North Central College men's soccer team were defeated 4-1 by 16
th ranked Calvin College on Friday night at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on Saturday night.
Calvin showed why they are ranked 16
th, getting the better of the Cardinals for much of the game. It wasn't until the 70
th minute when senior midfielder
Evan Landmark scored his first goal of the season, that the Cardinals registered on the scoreboard.
Calvin had the majority of the possession throughout the first half, and opened their scoring account in the 16
th minute when Nick Groenewold scored, courtesy of an assist from Stephan Hooker.
Hooker would be the one scoring this time for the Knights, this time in the 30th minute. He was assisted by Matt Hinds.
Not long into the second half the Knights would again score, this time Mitchell Stark finding the back of the net in the 53
rd minute. Only two minutes later, the Knights would score their fourth goal of the match, Mitchell Stark yet again showing why he is part of one of the best teams in the country by scoring his second goal.
Playing games such as these will only make the Cardinals better in the long run, as they will be battle hardened once conference play begins.
The Cardinals play next on Sep. 16 against Dominican University (2-1-1) at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium at 8 P.M.
