MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Sept. 21, 2015) – Despite jumping out to a 2-0 lead, the North Central College women's volleyball team needed five sets to take down Wisconsin Lutheran College, 3-2 on Monday evening.
North Central claimed the first two sets of the evening by scores of 25-21 and 25-18, but the Warriors did not go down without a fight, rallying to win the next two sets by scores of 22-25 and 20-25. In the all-important final set, the Cardinals escaped with a narrow 15-12 victory, improving to 12-2 this season.
Claire Vrabec led the Cardinal attack with a game-high 15 kills, while
Julie Laugel added 12 and
Anna Billman finished with eight kills.
Laura Kluk led all players with 37 assists, moving into third-place on the program's all-time list (3,347).
Defensively,
Amanda Walker turned in a career-high 13 blocks, which ranks second on the program's single-match list.
Olivia Hanley led the way with 16 digs, while Laugel added 15 and Kluk finished with 10.
North Central is back on the court on Saturday, Sept. 26, traveling to Platteville, Wis. for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Triangular, taking on the host Pioneers at 11 am followed by the Concordia University Chicago at 1 pm.
