Sep. 27, 2015 –Despite forcing double-overtime, the North Central College men's soccer team were beaten 2-1 by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Sunday at J.J Keller Field at Titan Stadium
In the 87
th minute, the Cardinals were rewarded for their hard running, when junior midfielder
Chandler Olah scored his third goal of the season on an 8-yard kick from in front of goal, thanks to an assist from senior forward
Matt Koth. It could not have been more timely, given the circumstances of the game.
The Cardinals had their share of scoring opportunities early in the match also, with senior midfielder
Evan Landmark missing high in the 11
th minute, and senior midfielder
Joey Faleni missing a header wide in the 17
th minute. However, the Titans were the first team to score, when Michael Dugan found the back of the net in 30
th minute, courtesy of assists from Nick Gonzales and Trent Allison.
The first overtime period saw the Ttitans attempt four shots, but thanks to strong defense and excellent goalkeeping from junior Justin DeBoer, a second overtime was needed. DeBoer came up with key saves in both the 97
th and 99
th minutes.
While Malcom Jeffries would score the game-winning goal for the Titans in the 104
th minute, the Cardinals were still not without opportunities to put the game away.
Matt Koth sent a shot just high in the 101
st minute.
