Box Score LISLE, Ill. (Sep. 7, 2015) -The North Central College men's soccer team went down 3-1 to the Benedictine University Eagles at the Lisle Sports Complex on Monday.
On a muggy evening, the Cardinals were able to maintain their up-tempo game style, but came up short against a Benedictine team that was able to match their pace and athleticism.
Junior
Chandler Olah scored off a penalty kick in the 75
th minute, taking his tally to two for the season and his second goal in 3 games. However, it was too late, as the Cardinals already faced three-goal deficit by this point.
After a promising start that saw freshmen
Gavin Sanchez come close to scoring with a header attempt in the fourth minute, and senior
Joey Faleni just miss to the right in the 12
th minute, the Cardinals were outshot 19-8.
Head coach
Matt Klosterman made 25 substitutions throughout the match, continuing a theme from the previous two games of rotating players frequently.
In the 36
th minute, Nick Kapetanos scored off a break through from an Erik Stammer cross, to build what would be a deficit the Cardinals could not overcome.
Johnny Lehman then scored for the Eagles in the 60
th minute off a turnover shot into an open net, then in the 69
th minute Nick Kapetanos, who was a thorn in the side of North Central all night, found the back of the net a second time for the Eagles.
The Cardinals will look to get back on the winning track on Sep. 11 when they will host Hope College (2-1) at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium at 7 P.M. Live in game statistics can be accessed by clicking
