ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Oct. 11, 2016) –
After a slow start to the opening set, the North Central College women's volleyball team never found their rhythm Tuesday evening at Augustana College, falling by a 3-0 score inside the Carver Center.

The Cardinals (13-8, 0-3 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) dropped the opening set 25-12 as the North Central attack struggled to get anything going offensively.

Augustana (17-5, 3-2 CCIW) carried that momentum into the final two sets, fighting out a 25-23 win in set two, before closing out the match with a 25-22 win in the third as Vikings held a 43 to 36 advantage in kills on the evening.

Cara Howell was the lone Cardinal to finish with double digit kills, leading the way with 10, while Rachel Elshoff added eight and Julie Laugel finished with seven.  Val Hunt dished out a team-leading 18 assists, while Ashley Powers added 17.  Defensively, Olivia Hanley led the team with 19 digs, while Howell also finished in double figures with 12.

Emily Westermeyer and Taryn VanEarwage paced the Viking attack with 10 kills each, while Jacqueline Kibir-Evans finished with nine.  Hannah Lindaman and McKenzie Zambrano each dished out 20 assists, while Sierra Rood led the Vikings with 13 digs on defense.

North Central takes part in the Aurora University Triangular on Saturday, Oct. 15, opening the day against Maranatha Baptist University at 10 a.m., followed by the host Spartans at noon.
