Box Score
Oct. 26, 2016 – On a cold and gloomy Wednesday night at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, the North Central College men's soccer team fell 4-0 to College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) powerhouse North Park University.
The Cardinals had an opportunity to take an early lead, when senior midfielder
Chandler Olah sent a shot just high of the crossbar 3:05 into the game. Unfortunately for the Cardinals, it would be the Vikings who drew first blood, when sophomore midfielder Gianfranco DeCarne fond the back of the net, thanks to an assist from junior midfielder Chase Lennartz.
Senior forward
John Kissel was determined to not let the game slip out of hand, but his shot in the fifth minute was also high.
North Park showed why they've been a force to be reckoned with over the years in the CCIW, when junior midfielder Nathaniel Paisley scored their second goal of the match off an assist from freshman midfielder Matias Warp.
North Central came out of halftime looking to push the tempo, with freshman forward
Alexis Flores continuing his hot streak and having a shot saved in the 51
st minute. Senior defender
Jon Borzick, no stranger to scoring goals as of late, also had a shot saved in the 57
th minute.
Unfortunately for the Cardinals, the Vikings would go on to score again in the 64
th minute (senior forward Miguel Valle), and the 79
th minute (sophomore midfielder Alan Hataric), sealing the game for them.
North Central play their last game of the season and look to finish on a positive note on Saturday October 29, when they travel Illinois Wesleyan University for a matchup with the Spartans. Kickoff will be at 6:30 p.m. Live stats can be found
