FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEContact: Tyler Friel, Sports Information Graduate Assistant, 630-637-5302ResultsFeb. 11, 2016 (Elmhurst, Ill.) – The North Central College wrestling team concluded their regular season schedule after being defeated 20-14 by Elmhurst College in R.A. Faganel Hall.
The Cardinals started the dual off strong as
Brad Martens took the 125 class on an 8-6 decision but the Bluejays were able to win the next four bouts, including a pin and technical fall. North Central found its composure at the 165 class as
Eric Kirkman earned a 7-6 decision thanks to a riding time point while
Matt Marcotte took an exciting 5-1 victory at 174.
Josh Bouie was granted a 3-1 decision in overtime at 184 and the Cardinals would pull within six at 17-11 with only two weight classes left.
The Cardinals (4-9) would drop the 197 bout and give the hosts a 20-11 advantage with only the heavyweight division left.
Emonte Logan would take a 5-0 decision but the deficit would be too much to overcome as the Cardinals left with the loss.
Despite the outcome, the Cardinals look to make a statement at the CCIW Championships next week in Rock Island. Start time for the duals is slated for 5 pm.
