KENOSHA, Wis. (Feb. 20, 2016) –
Running into its second nationally ranked opponent in as many days, the North Central College men's volleyball team was unable to get anything going against third-ranked Carthage College on Saturday, falling by a 3-0 score in a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) match inside Tarble Arena.

North Central (2-9, 1-4 MCVL) jumped out to a 6-4 lead in the opening set, but a 7-1 Carthage run quickly gave the hosts a 10-7 lead and forced a Cardinal timeout.  The rest of the set was all Carthage (13-1, 6-0 MCVL), as the Red Men led the rest of the set and scored eight of the final nine points to take a 25-14 win.

Set two was back-and-forth early and with the scored knotted 11-11, a Carthage 6-1 run proved to be the turning point in the set, as the Red Men held a commanding lead the remainder of the set and would go on to win 25-18.

The Cardinals trailed from the opening point and never led during the third set, finishing with a match-low seven kills to Carthage's match-high 14.

Jacob Zemba led the Cardinal attack with eight kills, while Andrew Bergstrand added six.  Raymond Kraus finished with 22 assists and a team-leading eight digs, while Bergstrand led the team with four total blocks.

Griffin Shields led the Carthage offense with 10 kills on the afternoon, while Matt Reinsal handed out a match-high 30 assists.
