The Cardinals (9-0) faced the Spartans for the second time in three days, defeating them 2-1 Sunday also.
In the first,
Jeremy Quade started things off with a lead-off single up the middle but would be thrown out at second on a
David Rico fielder's choice.
Bobby Smith singled to advance Rico and
Chris Hill would reach on an error by the Spartans second baseman, allowing Rico to score from second.
The teams would trade zeros until the bottom of the seventh, when Manchester took advantage of a Cardinal error, tying the score 1-1. North Central reclaimed their lead the next half inning as Rico drove in the game-winning RBI with a double down the left field line, scoring
Austin Wheatley.
Jordan Van Dyck recorded the win for the Cardinals, hurling a flawless eight innings while allowing only four hits, striking out two and walking none.
Nick Rogalski earned the save, throwing a perfect ninth inning.
The Cardinals went a perfect 6-0 on their spring trip to remain undefeated, outscoring their opponents 31-12. North Central's home opener is this Saturday, Mar. 26 against Wisconsin Lutheran College. Game one at Zimmerman Stadium begins at noon. Live stats can be found
