CLERMONT, Fla. (Mar. 23, 2016) – The North Central College softball team ended their spring trip with two tough losses Wednesday morning, falling 5-3 to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and being defeated 7-0 by Centre College.

The Cardinals (6-6) split their spring trip, playing 12 games in six days with their schedule not getting any easier as the trip went on.

Jenna Amazzalorso started things off for the Cardinals in the second, scoring Andrea Starr with a single to right. She picked up her second RBI in the fourth, this time scoring Rachele Belletini. Amazzalorso would come around to score on an error by the third baseman and North Central took a 3-0 lead into the fifth. MIT got two runs back in the fifth thanks to a North Central error and timely hitting in the sixth would give the Engineers a 5-3 lead with only one frame to play. Starr (3-2) would struggle in the outing, seeming to not have her best stuff and would take the loss.

It did not get easier for the Cardinals as they were shutout in game two facing the Colonels. North Central could not put any hits together to get on the scoreboard, scattering their five hits across five innings and leaving eight runners on base in the contest. Centre would score four in the second and three in the fifth on a combined eight hits and one error. Sarah Esposito took the loss for the Cardinals.

North Central (6-6) returns from their trip looking to bounce back as they take on St. Mary's College (Ind.) on Saturday, Mar. 26 with game one of a doubleheader beginning at 1 pm.
