CCIW Press Release
Sept. 13, 2016 - North Central College men's cross country runner Zach Plank has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Athlete of the Week for the second straight week. The most recent announcement was made by the CCIW on Tuesday.
Also two-time winner of the award last season, when he also captured the CCIW individual championship, Plank was honored after posting the leading finish for the No. 1-ranked Cardinals at the Country Financial Illinois State University Invitational on Friday.
Competing against a field otherwise comprised solely of NCAA Division I competition, Plank finished third overall, covering the 8,000-meter (five-mile) course in 25 minutes, 15.18 seconds. The Cardinals placed third out of nine teams at the meet.
He also received the award last week after placing first overall and leading North Central to a dominant victory at the Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational on Sept. 2.
The Cardinals will send a squad to compete in the Wheaton College Gil Dodds Invitational on Saturday at St. James Farm in Warrenville.
