CCIW Press Release
Sept. 19, 2016 - North Central College punter Zane Lodico has been selected the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week for Sept. 12-18, giving the Cardinals one of the CCIW's weekly awards for the second straight game.
Lodico received the accolades for his efforts in North Central's 34-7 victory at Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday in the CCIW opener for both teams. He averaged 41.0 yards on five punt attempts, landing three kicks inside the Titans' 20-yard line and only allowing one return attempt. Through three games, Lodico ranks first in the CCIW and ninth nationally among NCAA Division III punters with a 43.4-yard average.
The Cardinals now have three CCIW Player of the Week awards in 2016. Quarterback Broc Rutter and linebacker DJ Warkenthien were honored as the conference's Players of the Week on offense and defense, respectively, last week.
Seventh-ranked North Central (3-0) resumes CCIW play Saturday, hosting Millikin University (1-1). Kickoff at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
