RIPON, Wis. (Sept. 2, 2016) – Opening play in the Ripon College Red Hawk Invitational, the North Central College women's volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 win over Alverno College, improving to 3-0 on the young season.
The Cardinals (3-0) cruised to a 25-9 win in the opening set as the Alverno (1-1) defense had no answer for the North Central attack.
The offensive onslaught continued for the Cardinals over the final two sets, downing the Inferno by scores of 25-13 and 25-12, clinching the three set win.
The Cardinal offense racked up 29 kills to just six errors on the evening to finish with an attack percentage of .354, while the Inferno committed 17 errors on the offensive end, finishing with a -.059 hitting percentage.
11 Cardinals finished with a kill, as
Julie Laugel led the way with six while also leading the team with six digs on defense.
Cara Howell added five kills on the offensive end, while
Alexa Zimbelman dished out a match-high 13 assists.
Anna Billman and
Megan Bielawski each finished with four total blocks, while Howell, Laugel,
Olivia Hanley and
Tara Tralewski all recorded three service aces as North Central held a 12-2 advantage in aces.
North Central returns to the court early tomorrow with a 10 a.m. start time against the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, before taking on host Ripon at 12:30 p.m.
