Sept. 27, 2016 – North Central College junior outside hitter
Cara Howell was recognized by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) on Tuesday, receiving Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading the women's volleyball team to a pair of wins in their home triangular over the weekend.
Howell led the Cardinal attack with 34 kills over the Cardinals three matches last week. Howell recorded a team-high 14 kills in a 3-1 loss to 16
th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University on Sept. 20, before leading the team with 20 kills in a pair of 3-0 wins over Ripon College and Illinois Institute of Technology last Saturday. With her 34 kills last week, Howell moved into 10
th on the program's career kills list with 748.
Howell currently leads the team with 148 kills so far this season, while also leading the team with 27 service aces and 33 total blocks. She also ranks second on the team with 112 digs and is the first Cardinal to earn CCIW Player of the Week since 2014.
