CCIW Press Release
Oct. 2, 2017 - North Central College quarterback Broc Rutter has been named one of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week for the week of Sept. 30. The CCIW announced this week's honorees on Monday.
Rutter was selected as the CCIW's Offensive Player of the Week due to his contributions to the Cardinals' 43-24 victory at Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday. Rutter completed 20 of 29 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns as North Central took control of the contest with a 29-point second quarter and gained at least 500 total yards for the second straight week.
The winner of the CCIW's Art Keller Offensive Player of the Year award last season, Rutter has completed 80 of 125 passes (64.0 percent) for 1,107 yards and seven touchdowns through four games this season. North Central players have won one of the CCIW's Player of the Week awards each week the team has played in 2017. Austin Breunig was recognized as the Offensive Player of the Week following a season-opening victory over Robert Morris University-Chicago, while Tommy Sora and Pat Cravens received Defensive Player of the week honors after victories over Illinois Wesleyan University and Millikin University, respectively.
Ranked fourth nationally by D3football.com, the Cardinals (4-0, 2-0 CCIW) host North Park University on Saturday. Kickoff at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium is set for 1:00 p.m.
