CHICAGO, Ill. (Dec. 2, 2017) –
Forced to play catch-up once again in the early stages of the contest, the North Central College women's basketball team opened College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play with a 78-59 loss at North Park University on Saturday.

North Central (0-5, 0-1 CCIW) struggled out of the gate and never led in the contest, as North Park (4-1, 1-0 CCIW) jumped out to a 13-4 lead to start the game and never looked back.

The Vikings' opened up their largest lead of the first half, a 16-point advantage with 2:48 to play before the half, as an 11-1 run opened up a 39-23 lead.

North Central pulled to within nine points of the lead on a Mayson Whipple three-pointer at the 6:01 mark of the third quarter, but that was as close as the Cardinals would come to the Viking lead as a 12-0 North Park run less than a minute later increased the lead 61-39.

North Park led by as many as 28 in the fourth quarter, shooting 43 percent from the field while holding a 49-32 in rebounds, including a 17-7 advantage on the offensive glass.

Whipple led all scorers with 19 points on 4-of-7 shooting from three-point range.  Andrea Dickerson added nine points and Rebekah Foley finished with eight, while no other Cardinal scored more than five points.

Clarissa Ramos led the Viking offense with 18 points off the bench on a perfect 9-of-9 shooting from the field, while Alicia Arnold added 10 points off the bench on 3-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc.

North Central returns home on Wednesday, Dec. 6, playing host to Carthage College inside Gregory Arena at 7 p.m.
