RIVER FOREST, ILL. (Mar. 17, 2017)- The North Central College men's volleyball team did not have the luck of the Irish Friday evening, suffering a three set loss to the Dominican University Stars.

Coming out slow to the Dominican attack, the Cardinals found themselves tying the score 11 different times. North Central countered three straight Dominican points with a kill from sophomore
Jake Braceros and sophomore
Jacob Zemba to bring the score to 23-all. Though the Stars edged out the final two points and won the set 25-23. North Central closed out the set with it's highest hitting percentage of the match (.318).

After falling the first set, the Cardinals attack came out ignited with a 4-0 run to open the second set. Dominican went on their own run to tie the score at eight before going on for consecutive points forcing a North Central timeout. With the score at 18-21 in favor of Dominican, North Central looked to close the gap after two Dominican attacking errors, though the hole was too much and the Cardinals lost the set 21-25.

The third set was all Dominican, the Stars jumped out to a 19-9 lead midway through the set and cruised to a 25-15 win. The Cardinals hit a match-low of .130 finishing with eight kills and five attack errors.

Braceros led the Cardinal attack with seven kills and five digs. Sophomore
Raymond Kraus led the way with 24 assists, while freshman
Brendan Crawford the team with four total blocks defensively.

North Central hosts Adrian College and Mount Mercy University tomorrow inside Gregory Arena in a tri-match starting at 12 p.m.
