FORT MEYERS, Fla. (19 March 2017) – Throwing the first no-hitter on the season,
Jennifer Yager led the North Central College softball team to an 8-0 victory over Crown College Sunday afternoon at Century Link Sports Complex.
The Cardinals put up three runs in their first at-bats, as a

Taylor Clugston and a
Samantha Phelps two-run homerun cleared the bases a batter later. A leadoff single from Yager in the second allowed her to score on a Clugston RBI double three batters later. Clugston would trade places with
Rachele Belletini the next batter and as North Central led 5-0 after two innings.
Blanked in the third, the Cardinals reached the run-rule in the fourth as they piled on another three runs. With Clugston and Belletini both in scoring position, Trojniar singled through the left side, scoring both. Phelps capped off the inning driving in Trojniar to give the Cardinals the decisive 8-0 win.
Yager completed her first career no-hitter in the contest, throwing five innings while collecting two strikeouts and allowing no walks. Yager finished facing 16 batters, one more than the minimum.
The Cardinals first four hitters tallied seven of the Cardinals nine hits and all six RBI. Clugston scored three times on the day.
The Cardinals record currently stands at 5-5 on the season as they enter their final day on their spring trip, a doubleheader against Crown College at 9 am and 11 am (ET).
