MONTGOMERY, Ill. (Apr. 12, 2017) –
The North Central College baseball team saw their six-game win streak come to an end on Wednesday at non-conference rival Aurora University, dropping a 14-4 contest at the Stuart Sports Complex.

North Central (10-8) tallied 12 hits on the afternoon but was only able to plate four runs, as the Cardinals actually led early after scoring a pair of runs in the top of the second Adam Nelson plated Chris Hill and Sing Fong with a base knock up the middle to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead.

Aurora (15-10) countered immediately in the bottom half of the inning as six of the first seven batters of the inning reached base safely, leading to a five-run inning and the Spartans never looked back, scoring three more in the fourth, two in the sixth and four in the eighth.

The Cardinals were able to push across a run in the top of the third and top of the eighth but it was too little too late for North Central.

Evan Blunk received the loss on the mound, allowing eight earned on seven hits over 3 1/3 innings, striking out three and walking three.

Jeff Woods allowed 11 hits over his seven innings but limited the Cardinal offense to just four runs while striking out seven batters.

Fong continues to stay hot on offense, finishing 3-for-3 with a RBI, run scored and stolen base to lead the Cardinal offense.  Foster Heise also added a pair of hits, while Nelson finished 2-for-3 with two RBI.

North Central continues non-conference play on Friday, Apr. 14, traveling to the University of Chicago with first pitch at 3:30 p.m. at J. Kyle Anderson Field.
