Sept. 25, 2017 - The North Central College football team has moved up one spot to a No. 4 national ranking among NCAA Division III institutions this week, according to the most recent Top 25 Poll released Sunday evening by D3football.com.
The Cardinals (3-0, 2-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) were ranked No. 5 last week before their 51-21 victory at CCIW rival Millikin University on Saturday. North Central received 535 points in this week's voting.
The defending national champion, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas), retains the No. 1 spot with 21 of 25 first-place votes, followed by the University of Mount Union (Ohio) and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) rival Wheaton College rounds out the top five. North Central travels to Wheaton for the Battle for the Little Brass Bell Oct. 14.
The Cardinals remain in the No. 5 spot in the Top 25 Poll released this week by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). Mary Hardin-Baylor, Mount Union, Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Wheaton continue to hold the top four spots in that poll.
The CCIW has three representatives in both polls once again this week, as Illinois Wesleyan is ranked 19th by D3football.com and 21st by the AFCA.
The Cardinals travel to Washington University in St. Louis (1-3) for a non-conference game on Saturday. Kickoff at Francis Field is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
