ELMHURST, Ill. (Jan. 20, 2018) – A slow start haunted the North Central College women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon at Elmhurst College, falling behind early and never recovering en route to a 77-55 defeat inside R.A. Faganel Hall.
The contest started about as worse as it could have for North Central, as Elmhurst opened the contest on a 24-2 run. The Cardinals (4-13, 2-6 CCIW) shot just 1-of-19 from the field during the first quarter with four turnovers.
Elmhurst (9-8 5-3 CCIW) led by double figures the remainder of the contest, shooting 11-of-30 from three-point range while North Central has a difficult time slowing down All-American forward Mikaela Eppard.
Eppard led all players with 24 points and 16 rebounds, finishing 10-of-17 from the field. Kelly Weyhrich finished with 12 points on a perfect 4-of-4 showing from beyond the arc, while Hannah Henderson added 10 points.
Mayson Whipple led the Cardinal offense with 12 points, while
Lyndsay Brennan and
Michaela Reedy finished with nine and seven points, respectively.
