Oct. 10, 2018 – Running into a stout offense in 13
th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University on Wednesday, the North Central College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat inside Gregory Arena.
North Central (2-15, 0-4 CCIW) fell behind 4-0 early in the first set and never recovered, recording just six kills while committing nine errors in the set, falling 25-12.
The offense bounced back in the second set to finish with nine kills to just three errors, but the Titan offense was a force to be reckoned with, as 19 of their 25 points in the set came via kill, hitting .366 en route to a 25-19 win.
In the third set it was North Central who jumped out to an early 3-0 lead behind a pair of service aces from
Emmie Naal, but once again the Titan offense continued to roll, going on a 10-3 run from that point on to force a Cardinal timeout.
The Cardinal struggles continued out of the timeout, as Illinois Wesleyan scored three of the next four to force another North Central timeout, eventually closing out the final set 25-17.
Illinois Wesleyan finished the match with a 43-22 margin in kills, hitting .351 on the match while the Cardinals hit just .065, as
Kaitlyn Boelter-Eberhardt led the offense with 10 kills and
Reagan Raymer added seven while no other Cardinal finished with more than one.
Rachel Burkman and Tyler Brown paced the Titan offense with 14 and 12 kills, respectively, while the pair combined for just three attack errors on the evening.
North Central will host Central College (Iowa) and Bethel University (Minnesota) in a triangular on Friday, Oct. 12 with the first match scheduled for 2 p.m. The link to live in-game statistics is available
