KENOSHA, Wis. (Oct. 10, 2018) –  Battling a conference foe and pouring rain, the North Central women's soccer team settled for a 2-2 tie with the Carthage College Lady Reds Wednesday.

The Cardinals offense got the ball rolling early, led by Lexi Dimovski. Eight minutes into play the junior ripped a shot that looked earmarked for the back of the net, but instead found the crossbar; however, she was not discouraged. In the 17th minute, Carthage goalkeeper Sara Lieffrig charged out of net to stop a Cardinal breakaway and came up empty, allowing Dimovski to score on an empty net from 35 yards out.

After a quiet first half, Carthage's offense came to life after halftime, making for an exciting second half. Libby Snyder struck in the 75th minute and again in the 82 minute, transforming the Lady Reds' 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead with less than eight minutes left. But North Central only needed two to produce an equalizer as Dimovski came up big for the Cardinals, this time on a shot from 12 yards out. Carthage took three corner kicks in the final minute of regulation, but North Central's defense stood strong to preserve the tie.

The thrilling second half gave way to a much slower paced overtime. The Cardinals claimed the lone shot on goal in the first period, while the Lady Reds owned the second period's only shot on goal, leaving the 110-minute battle a draw.

Gretchen Frantz faced 20 shots in total, eight of which were on goal, and made six saves. Lexi Dimovski landed all six of her shots on net and recorded her sixth goal of the season, which ranks her fifth in the conference. Allyson Viederis also played a big role on the offensive end, recording five shots.

North Central (5-7-1 1-3-1 CCIW) plays their third consecutive conference road game Saturday, when they face the tenth-ranked Wheaton College Thunder (11-2 4-0 CCIW). For live stats and video, click HERE.
