ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Oct. 19, 2018) –
Hitting the road for the final time this season, the North Central College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 contest at Augustana College on Friday evening in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) matchup inside the Carver Center.

The first set was tight down to the wire, as a pair of Augustana errors and a kill from Anna Billman gave the Cardinals a late 17-16 advantage.  That lead did not last long however, as the Vikings went on to score nine of the final 11 points in the set to score a 25-19 win.

Set number two was similar to the first with the two teams all square 18-18, when the Vikings yet again rattled off three straight to force a Cardinal timeout.  Coming out of the timeout, Reagan Raymer and Claire Vrabec each recorded kills, while the two teams traded errors to pull the Cardinals to within one, 22-21, this time forcing the Vikings to a timeout.

That timeout killed the Cardinal momentum as three-consecutive errors handed Augustana the 25-21 second set victory.  The Cardinals finished with 15 kills in the set to the Vikings' 11, but were plagued by nine attack errors and four service errors.

North Central (3-18, 0-6 CCIW) shook off the tough second-set loss to jump out to a commanding 14-5 lead in the third, highlighted by a pair of kills from each of Raymer, Vrabec and Sarah Geosling, while Vrabec and Katelynn Kuehl also tallied service aces over the run.

That proved to be the high point of the match for the Cardinals however, as things quickly took a turn for the worse.  From that point forward Augustana finished the set on a 20-4 run in a heartbreaker of a final set for North Central.

Vrabec was the lone Cardinal to finish with double digit kills, leading the team with 10, while Billman added seven and Raymer and Kimberly Epker each finished with six.  Kiarah Horn handed out 28 assists, while Kuehl led the team with 15 digs on defense.

Grace Bialobok paced the Augustana offense with a match-high 11 kills, while Emily Uglem and Taryn VanEarwage each added seven.  The Viking defense was led by 22 digs from Madi Glatz, while Brooke Harmon led the team with five total blocks.

North Central finishes the season with a pair of home matches, first welcoming Millikin University to Gregory Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.  Links to live in-game coverage are available HERE.
