NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Oct. 20, 2018) - On an afternoon that saw some snow and heavy winds, the North Central College men's soccer team tried to rally late against a no. 20 ranked North Park University team, but fell short, dropping the contest 2-1.
North Park (11-2, 5-1 CCIW) struck once in the first half and once in the second half, with the first half score coming from a breakaway by Ulrik Lund on an assist by Shantil Khoury. Lund broke away from Cardinal defenders in the left half of the box, with Khoury finding him with a cross pass from the opposite side of the box. Lund fired it passed
Marco Soto to break the even score.
North Park added on in the second half as well, with Peder Olson dribbling past the defenders and finding the back of the net as well, putting the Vikings up 2-0.
Austin Lombardi pulled the Cardinals closer with a goal in the 85
th minute, taking a rebound from the Vikings keeper and finding the back of the net for the second time on the season. The Cardinals fought ferociously to make their comeback and even the score but fell short, with the game ending in a 2-1 final.

The Cardinals (8-6, 3-4 CCIW) play again on Wednesday, Oct. 24, when they travel to Augustana College to take on the Vikings in their final conference tilt of the season. Click
