CHICAGO, Ill. (Oct. 31, 2018) - Looking to slow down a no. 17-ranked North Park University squad to advance to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) finals, the North Central College men's soccer team could not do so, falling to the Vikings by a 6-2 final.
The action started quickly for the Vikings (16-2, 7-1 CCIW), scoring twice in the first half of the contest. Joachim Hoff scored for North Park in the 28
th minute, with Peder Olsen following up with another goal in the 45
th minute, just before halftime.
The Cardinals struck back in the 51
st minute, when
Alexis Flores took a penalty kick and put it past the North Park defender, cutting the deficit in half. The Vikings took off after a short lull in the action, scoring four straight goals in less than eight minutes of game time to pull away from the Cardinals.
Senior
Joe Trocki added on for the Cardinals in the 86
th minute with the game already out of reach.
Flores scored his 11
th goal on the season, while Trocki added his sixth. Flores was credited for his fifth assist on Trocki's goal. Goalie
Marco Soto saved nine shots in the loss, while North Park's goalie Mathias Stulen was credited with the win with six saves.
The Cardinals finish the season with a 9-8 record, with a 4-4 record in CCIW play regular season play.
