RACINE, Wis. (Oct. 7, 2018) – In yet another match moved indoors due to inclement weather this fall, the North Central College women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision at Carthage College on Sunday inside the Racine Tennis Club.
The Cardinals (6-3, 4-3 CCIW) fell behind early after losses at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, while

In singles play, the Lady Reds (4-2, 4-2 CCIW) earned wins at No. 3 and No. 6 to take a 4-1 lead in the match, before Hougland trimmed the lead to 4-2 with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Natalie Favia at the No. 2 spot.
At No. 1,
Diana Barcelata cut the lead even further, hanging on to defeat Emmanouil with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 win at No. 1. That proved to be as close as the Cardinals would come to the upset however, as the Lady Reds sealed the match with wins at each of the final two positions.
North Central wraps up College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play on Wednesday, Oct. 10 hosting North Park University at 2:30 p.m. The Cardinals can clinch the fourth spot in the conference standings and a spot in the CCIW Automatic Qualifier Tournament in the spring with a victory.
