WHEATON, Ill. (Dec. 15, 2018) – In the final College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) game of the 2018 calendar, the North Central College women's basketball team ran into a tough Wheaton College squad on Saturday evening, finding themselves on the wrong end of a 78-54 final inside King Arena.
With the score tied 4-4 early, the Thunder proceeded to rattle off a 16-2 run, thanks in part to four three-pointers, three off the hand of Kristi Demski to open up a 20-6 lead with just over two minutes to play in the opening quarter.
Trailing by 10 after the opening 10 minutes, a
Page Desenberg layup cut the lead to single digits for what proved to be the final time of the contest before the Thunder opened their lead 38-19 at halftime.
Wheaton (7-3, 3-0 CCIW) increased their lead to 20 shortly after the start of the third quarter and led by as many as 36 down the stretch, led by 22 points from Hannah Frazier while Hannah Williams finished with 12.
Rebekah Foley was the lone Cardinal to finish in double figures with 10 points in seven minutes off the bench, while
Tyonne Howard added seven points, four rebounds and three assists.
North Central begins a stretch of four-straight non-conference road games, heading to the University of Dubuque on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 6 p.m.
