Wrestling Remains 12th in NWCA Poll

Feb. 20, 2018 – The North Central College wrestling team held on to the No. 12-ranking in the latest National Wrestling Coaches (NWCA) Poll, released on Tuesday, and kept a presence in the individual rankings with two wrestlers ranked in their weight classes.

The Cardinals claimed its seventh College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) team title on Feb. 8 for the first time in eight-years, highlighted by two individual championships by Egan Berta at 157 pounds and Tyler Vittal at 197. Head coach Joe Norton was named the Coach of the Year after his team's performance at the tournament and success during the season.

In the individual rankings, Vittal continues to hold onto the tenth spot at 197 pounds while Emonte Logan is the eighth-ranked wrestler at 285 pounds for the second straight poll.

North Central sends its squad to the NCAA Division III Lower Midwest Regional Championship in Dubuque, Iowa beginning Saturday, Feb. 24. Matches are set to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday.
