Mar. 10, 2018Â - Bouncing back from a slow start with a dominant 12-minute run of play, the North Central College women's lacrosse team kept its unblemished 2018 record intact on Saturday with an 18-8 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
Trailing, 2-0, midway through the first period, the Cardinals (4-0) regrouped after a timeout and unleashed a flurry of seven unanswered goals in a span of 11 minutes to take a lead they would not relinquish. Three goals in the early surge came via free-position attempts, and the hosts went on to sting the Falcons to the tune of 10 of 14 accuracy on free-position shots.
After taking an 8-4 advantage into halftime, North Central put the contest away by scoring nine times in the first 15 minutes of the second period. The Cardinals limited Concordia to just 10 successful clears in 23 attempts and got a career-high 13 saves from goalkeeper Abigail Leers.
The Cardinals were led in scoring by Mynk Richardson-Clerk's five goals, four of which came on free positions. Christina Truver contributed four goals and two assists, while Jessica Deetjen finished with seven draw controls. Paige Nadherny, Rebecca Clausen and Evelyn Wagner each caused three turnovers.
North Central is idle until Friday, when it hosts Indiana Institute of Technology at 2:00 p.m.
