FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 17, 2018)- Still charged from their 17-5 route over Southern Vermont College, the North Central College softball team cruised to two more victories. The Cardinals beat Castleton University 10-1 in six innings and Knox College 10-2, in just five innings, bringing their season record to 6-0.

North Central dominated the Castleton Spartans, jumping to an early lead thanks to a double by Taylor Clugston, allowing Jenna Trojniar and Emily Miller to score. Clugston's consistent hitting helped her tally the 100th hit of her career, joining Trojniar in the record books.

From then on, the Cardinals put on a hitting clinic, recording 17 hits, with five separate players hitting a double.

Defensively, North Central squelched Castleton's attempts to chip away at the four-run deficit they had dug itself into. Junior pitcher Jennifer Yager used her poise and experience to lead the team to finish the game in just six innings while Clugston and Rachele Belletini held their ground against anything that got past Yager.

After the Spartans failed to find their rhythm, the Cardinals took control of the sixth inning earning four more runs by Reagan Raymer, Belletini, Jaime Smith, and Anna Seffernick, ending the game 10-1 with emphasis.

The second game was done before Knox could get anything started. North Central outhit the Prairie Fire 10 to 4 and recorded five times the number of RBIs Knox earned.

Of the ten runs scored Samantha Gadomski, Miller, and Clugston each earned two runs apiece. Just two runs were collected in the third inning while the remaining eight were consecutively brought in during the fourth inning.

Once again, the strong North Central pitching led to ending the second game in just five innings. This time senior pitcher Sarah Esposito demolished any chance of a comeback by Knox. Esposito only allowed four players on base and struck out three more to bring her season record to 2-0.

The undefeated Cardinals finish out the Gene Cusic Classic Sunday, March 18, facing Knox College at 9 AM (ET) and the University of Wisconsin- Superior at 11 AM (ET).
