MONTGOMERY, Ala. (March 19, 2018) – Despite keeping the game close throughout the first 45-minutes of play, the North Central College men's lacrosse team fell victim to a fourth-period offensive surge from Huntingdon College (9-1) on Monday afternoon in the first of three games on the Cardinals' spring break schedule, falling 13-5 to the Hawks.

Huntingdon took a 2-0 lead at 9:57, but Noah Parrill was able to connect with Jared Weaver with 1:36 left in the first period to put North Central on the board. In the opening minutes of the second period, Matt Sheinfeld was able to break away from the Hawks defense to score and tie the game 2-2.

Bryce Coates responded for Huntingdon, scoring two goals before halftime and a third coming out of the locker room to regain a 5-2 lead, but the Cardinals were not deterred. Gavin Foote found the open space with 4:18 remaining in the third period to score before Weaver scored his second goal of the game off of an assist from Tommy Huizinga to cut the Hawks' lead, 5-4.

But the fourth period was all about Huntingdon as the Hawks hammered seven goals past the Cardinals' defense to take a 12-4 lead with two minutes left to play. A goal from Parrill with less than 90-seconds left put a halt to the Hawks' run, but a final goal from the opponents with 38-seconds on the clock sealed the win for Huntingdon and handed North Central its third loss of the season.

Weaver led the Cardinals' offense with two goals, while Parrill, Sheinfeld, and Foote each scored one and Parrill and Huizinga added an assist. Weaver and Noah Swisshelm helped North Central's defense with three ground balls each and Dylan Cost made 11 saves.

North Central (3-3) resumes action on March 21 against Centre College in Nashville, Tenn. at 1 pm. For live in-game coverage, follow the link HERE.
